- 14 October 2009 00:59 - GeneralFootball v Claremont

A Team

On Wednesday 7th October St. James’ A Football team went to Claremont to play a match. The game kicked off and we had possession. We had lots of shots and so did Claremont, but both keepers kept strong. Then late into the first half we had an attack. Joe B put through a ball, Joe T chased it and he was one on one with the keeper, before calmly putting it past him. It was then half time. Claremont had a quick break and had a shot from long range, Josh pulled off an amazing save! They took the corner quickly and Joe T headed it clear. There was a break and Joe B smashed it up the pitch, Claremont’s keeper came out and miss kicked the ball, Joe then took it round the keeper and scored a great goal the final score was 2-0 to St. James’. We all played very well.

Thank you Mrs Waller and Keith for taking and supporting us.

Joe T and Josh were named ‘Men of the Match’.

Team: Josh, Joe W, Joe B, Joe T, Amir, Lewis, Joel and Miller.

B Team

On Wednesday 7th October St. James’ B Football team went to play Claremont B team. The match kicked off and we had a dodgy start. But before half time Spencer ran through the defence and scored. In the second half we started well and Spencer scored another goal to make it 2-0 to us. Towards the end of the match Shakane shot and hit the keeper. After that they had a great attack, but a great save by Max denied them the goal. The whistle blew and we had won 3-0.

Thank you Mrs Waller for organising it and Mrs Simkins for driving us there.

Team: Max, Tommy, Harry, Jordan, Dean, Shakane, Jonny, Spencer and Kyle.

On Monday 28th September St. James’ A team had our first game of the season, at home against Paddock Wood. The games started off a bit tricky, but in the first five minutes we got a corner. Miller took it and delivered a great cross, but Joe T put in an even better header and put the ball in the back of the net. 1-0 to St. James’. The match continued well to half time. We then started again and Joe scored another great goal, 2-0. The game went on well, in the last five minutes Joe W won a penalty. Joe T took the penalty, but their keeper made a great dive and saved it! They were great opposition and we all had a great game. The final score was 2-0 to us.

Joe T and Josh M were named Men of the Match.

- 28 September 2009 00:57 - GeneralNetball Tournament

A Team

On Sunday 28th June the Netball A team went to Tunbridge Wells High School to play a netball tournament for the Cardiomiopathy Charity. All the money that would be raised would go to that Charity.

We started off playing against Horsmonden. Despite our continuous efforts we lost 4-5.

Our second match was against Southborough. They were very strong players, but we tried really hard to get the ball up in our end of the court. We drew the game 3-3.

Just after our second match we all did the shooting competition. Afterwards we went to our third match against Pembury. But when we got to the court we found out that they hadn't showed up and so we won by forfeit.

After, we played against Langton. They were really good and we played our best but unfortunately we lost 3-5. We then played against St.Augustines, who won 6-4.

Finally our last match was against Speldhurst. They were really good and we lost 4-5.

As is was a very, very hot day we came 6th out of 6 schools! But it was all for Charity so we didn't mind as we raised over £2,200 and it was great fun. In the middle of the day an RAF fighter plane did a special fly over for us, but unfortunately they went a bit off course and instead of going over Tunbridge Wells High School, they went over Beechwood!!

Thank you to Mrs Waller, Mrs Mesher and Mrs Schone for supporting us, and well done to everyone who helped to raise all the money.

Report by Sasha and Nadine.

'A' Team; Sasha, Nadine, Maddy, Megan, Lauren, Suzan and Emily.

B Team Report

The B TeamOn Sunday 27th June, St James B Netball team, along with two year 5’s, Isabel and Hannah, went to Tunbridge Wells High School to play five matches for charity.

Our first match was against St Matthew’s School. They play very well but thanks to our excellent shooters, Olivia and Zoë, we won the match 5-2.

Our second match was against Speldhurst School. Again, our shooters were excellent. They were a bit better than St Matthew’s but everyone in our team played excellently again and we won 4-2.

Next we played Langton Green. All of our team were playing so well despite the heat and so were Langton. The final score was 5-2 to us.

Then we played Horsmonden. If we won this match, we were in the final. Their centre was very fast so it was hard to catch up with her. The final score was 2-1 to us so that meant we were in the final so we had one more match to play.

Our final match was against St John’s School. We were all very tired and were suffering with the heat however they played brilliantly. The final score was 5-2 to them. We came third overall in the league.

Thank you to Mrs Mesher for coaching us and Mrs Waller for organising it.

- 27 June 2009 01:22 - GeneralSports Day 2009

Thank you to everyone who helped at our Sports Day. Thank you too, to all the supporters – our biggest crowd ever.

In the morning the children went around in mixed age group teams, taking part in 8 different activities. There were throwing, jumping and team relay events. The final scores were remarkably close with all houses scoring over 6000 points. Scott House were the winners with 6,860 points. Congratulations to them.

The teams scored for good sportsmanship and politeness as well, which we believe is very important and the results of this were close too. The winning house was Livingstone. Congratulations.

In the afternoon we ran an amazing 88 races, plus the toddlers and parents races. Apologies for over-running, but we hope you enjoyed it. It was a very hot day and the children were really grateful for the ice-lollies from the PFA afterwards, so thank you to them. The winners in the afternoon were Wellington House. Congratulations.

Well done to all the children. There is a year to recover, before we do it again!

On Saturday 25th April, the A team went to Tunbridge Wells High School to play a Netball Tournament. We started off playing against Horsmonden. Despite our continuous strong efforts, they won 4-2.

Our second match was against St. Augustine’s. They were very strong players, but we tried really hard to get the ball up in our end of the court. Unfortunately we lost the game 3-0.

Just after our second match our goal attack, Nadine and goal shooter, Maddy, did a shooting competition. In the end they got 10 shots out of 20. We then played what we thought would be our last match against St. John’s. We managed to keep the ball up by our goal and with excellent passing and shooting from Maddy and Nadine we won the game 5-1.

As we won against St. John’s we got to play three more matches which would determine our place as 9th, 10th, or 11th in the A team tournament. The first of the three matches we were left to play was against St. Peter’s. We were so excited, so we had lots of energy and we won the game 4-0. That meant we could come 9th or 10th.

Our second match was against Claremont. They were really tough to beat and the final score was a close 2-1 to them. Our final match of the day was against St. Paul’s. Our third match was against St. Matthew’s. We played brilliantly and with our teamwork, we pulled through with a final score of 5-1 to us.

Our final match was against Pembury. We had never played them before so we didn’t know how well they could play. They were obviously a new team, and hadn’t had much experience. The over all score was 7-1 to us.

As we had won all of our four matches we were in the final. The deciding match was against Claremont. Our amazing centre Jodie was passing the ball as fast as lighting down the court. The over all score was 5-1to us.

When we had finished our matches there was a shooting competion. Which meant me and Olivia had to rush off. We tried really hard and came second.

Thank you to Mrs Mesher for umpiring and Mrs Waller for supporting us also thank to Mr Smith and Miss Church for coming and watching us and a big thank you to the ‘A’ team for cheering us on when they were not playing.

- 27 March 2009 18:13 - GeneralFootball B Team v St Matthew's

On the 24th March, St. James’ ‘B’ team went to play St. Matthews football team. We kicked off and had good chances. Harry was unlucky as he nearly broke the deadlock. Not long after Fraser slotted the ball into the net to make it 1-0. About two minutes later there was an own goal by the St. Matthews captain. Then Jordan scored a great goal and at half time the score was 3-0 to St. James’.

A few minutes after the game restarted we had a great chance and Harry scored our fourth. Straight after St. Matthews took the centre and we had an attack, the ball was like a pinball in St. Matthews box as it was bouncing off the posts, players and the keeper, eventually Jordan flicked it into the net to make the final score 5-0 to us.

Thank you to Carl for refereeing the match and to Mrs Simkins and Mrs Woolgar for driving us there.

Team; Sam A, Harry M, Nathan T, Fraser C, Jordan, Oscar and Max L.
